Bulk Order Guidelines

Overview of Military OneSource Bulk Order Guidelines

09 July 2009

1. Purpose.

This paper outlines the scope and parameters for ordering educational, promotional, and special Military OneSource materials.

2. Key Points.

  • The Director of Communications and Outreach is responsible for the categorization of Military OneSource educational and promotional materials, as well as the scope of the Military OneSource bulk order guidelines for all types of materials.
  • The Director is also responsible for customer expectations for the Military OneSource bulk order guidelines.  The Outreach Team, including Senior Outreach Managers (SOM's), Relationship Managers (RMs) Joint Family Support Assistance Program MOS Consultants (JFSAPs), and Outreach Assistants (OAs) are responsible for communicating these bulk order guidelines and expectations with their Department of Defense contacts.
  • Military OneSource Service Delivery, including but not limited to consultants, will assist with communicating the bulk order guidelines to individual callers.
  • Educational materials are defined as articles, booklets, CDs and other materials that provide in-depth content on specific topics covered in the Military OneSource program. The preferred distribution method of these materials is on-demand—either by participants placing orders online or by phone or by consultants sending targeted materials to participants in support of specific phone consultations.
  • Bulk orders of educational materials are not supported for these reasons: large orders deplete the inventory resulting in delayed availability of publications for individual participants; Military OneSource frequently updates materials, therefore organizations maintaining stockpiles of materials for local distribution cannot guarantee the most recent resources; educational materials are only one representation of Military OneSource support and participants are encouraged to call the program or visit www.militaryonesource.com to gain access to the full extent of MOS services.
  • Promotional materials are defined as items such as brochures, magnets, wallet cards, topical materials listings, and other items that market the Military OneSource program.
  • Bulk orders of promotional items are encouraged for organizations serving the military community to increase awareness and usage of the program.
  • Select Military OneSource publications may be categorized as both educational and promotional in nature and may therefore be ordered in bulk when appropriate.
  • Ordering criteria and quantity thresholds are specified on the regularly updated online promotional materials order form at www.militaryonesource.com
  • Military OneSource Senior Management, in collaboration with OSD staff, may approve educational material bulk orders in support of Office of Secretary of Defense (OSD) events such as conferences or other large joint initiatives.
