It is common for people to “overdo it” from time to time by, for example, eating too many sweets or going on a shopping spree. But, if you find yourself repeatedly engaging in a particular behavior that has a negative effect on your health and/or well-being, you may be struggling with an addictive behavior problem.
Being addicted to a self-destructive habit or behavior can be similar to being addicted to drugs or alcohol -- it can cause your life to fall apart. That’s why it is important to take action as soon as you suspect you might have a problem.

Even though autism was first described in the 1940s, little was really known about the disorder until the 1990s. Even today, there is a great deal that researchers, scientists, and health care providers don’t know about autism.
But there are things that we do know about autism. This webinar is designed to offer broad information about autism and answer some of the more common questions that parents and families often have about the disorder.
Knowledge of autism is always growing as research examines more and different sides of the disorder. The National Institute of Child Health and Human Development (NICHD), part of the National Institutes of Health (NIH) within the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, is one of many federal agencies working to understand autism. The NICHD supports and conducts research on what causes autism, how many people have autism, how best to treat the symptoms of autism, and other topics. The NICHD joins other federal agencies, organizations, and support groups in helping those with autism achieve their full potential to live healthy, productive lives.

The trouble is, when the holidays arrive, we try too hard to make reality fit this picture. We agonize over gift lists and rush from store to store in search of the perfect items. We eat too much and drink too much, but find ourselves still hungry for that indescribable “holiday spirit.”
And when the holidays don’t meet our expectations, we find ourselves feeling anxious,depressed, and even angry. But there are things you can do to keep from overindulging and feeling guilty or angry during the holidays.
